Thermal Inspections

Detecting temperature/heat with an infrared camera

Road Runner Home Inspections of Albuquerque is trained and certified in the use of infrared cameras.

A normal camera takes pictures from visible light. An infrared camera constructs an image using infrared radiation (temperature/heat). The cameras simply allow us to see surface temperatures of building materials. The larger the difference between the indoor and outdoor temperatures, the more accurate the reading will be. This is known as the Delta T. All materials have a different thermal mass (the amount of time an object can heat and cool), this allows an infrared camera to locate moisture problems on a surface that may not be readily visible, or has been covered up by an unscrupulous seller.
